How do refunds work?

The refund amount depends on the booking’s cancellation terms. The refund destination depends on how the booking was originally paid.

How much will be refunded?

The refund amount depends on the cancellation terms that apply when you cancel:

  • Full refund: You receive 100% back if you cancel before the free cancellation deadline.

  • Partial refund: You receive part of the amount back if the cancellation terms include a partial refund or the service provider agrees to reduce the penalty for a late cancellation or no-show.

  • No refund: You receive no money back if the cancellation terms do not allow a refund and the service provider does not approve an exception.

Always check the cancellation terms on the order page before canceling a booking.

If you want to request a reduced penalty for a late cancellation or no-show, contact support. The service provider may approve a partial refund, but this is not guaranteed.

Payment processing fee: If a payment processing fee was charged when you paid, it is non-refundable. It will not be returned even if the booking qualifies for a full or partial refund.

Where can I find the free cancellation deadline?

The free cancellation deadline is the date and time before which you can cancel a booking without a penalty.

Go to “Orders.” The deadline is shown under “Free cancellation” on the order card and detailed order page.

How do I cancel a booking and receive a refund?

The following steps apply to accommodations, transfers, car rentals, and rail bookings:

  1. Go to “Orders” and open the booking.

  2. Select “Cancel.”

  3. Review the cancellation deadline, time zone, and applicable refund conditions.

  4. Select a reason from “Reason for cancellation.”

  5. Select the yellow cancellation button to confirm.

The button shows the refund conditions that apply to your booking. For example, if the booking is still within the free cancellation period, it will say “Cancel with full refund.”

Once the booking is canceled, any applicable refund is processed automatically. You can track it in “Payment history.”

If you do not want to proceed, select “Don’t cancel the order.”

How do I request a refund for an air ticket?

Air-ticket refunds follow a separate process:

  1. Go to “Orders” → “Air tickets.”

  2. Open the relevant order.

  3. Select “Refund the ticket.”

  4. Review the “Fare rules.”

  5. Select “Send a request.”

RateHawk will check the fare conditions and calculate the refundable amount, including any applicable penalties. We will then contact you to confirm the refund.

If the traveler requests a refund, any additional services purchased with the ticket, such as baggage or seat selection, are non-refundable.

If “Refund the ticket” is not available for your order, contact support at [email protected] or submit a request through the “Support” section in your RateHawk account.

Where will the refund be sent?

The refund destination is selected automatically based on the original payment method.

PayPal, Alipay, or another supported payment method

For some manually processed refunds, the funds may be credited to your Wallet instead of the original payment method. This may also apply to bookings originally paid by card.

Can I choose where to receive the refund?

No. The refund destination is determined automatically and cannot be changed.

To withdraw refunded funds from your Wallet, contact your Account Manager.

How can I track my refund?

Open “Payment history.” Once the refund has been processed, it will appear there as a separate transaction.
