If your first accommodation choice becomes unavailable, you’ll instantly see the closest available option — with the same hotel, dates, destination, and room category. No need to start the search from scratch — simply choose an alternative rate and continue your booking without interruptions!

How can I get alternative rates when the first choice becomes unavailable?

We have enhanced our booking flow, and now users can see alternative accommodation options if their first choice becomes unavailable mid-process. The system will now automatically offer you a selection of the same room categories in the same hotel for the same dates and destination. This improvement helps to streamline the booking flow by avoiding starting the search from scratch and ensuring an uninterrupted experience.

Note, alternative rates are not always available and will be only shown for those cases, when we can offer alternatives.

Can all users see alternative rates?

If the initial accommodation option becomes unavailable during booking, all RateHawk users, except for subagents, will see alternative rates. This feature applies automatically on the website.

What is the difference between the rate I chose and the alternative rates?

Your original search criteria, including the hotel, dates, room category, and destination, will remain the same. The factors that may be slightly changed are the price, meal plan, and cancellation policy.

What should I do after I’ve chosen the updated rate?

After choosing the alternative rate, you can just proceed to the payment. Dates, guest details will be kept the same that were entered in the beginning.

Does the new rate include commission?

The alternative rate will include the standard commission set up in the contract. If the commission was previously set manually or loyalty points, promo codes, or any additional services were applied, the alternative rates won’t be shown.

Will the payment method change for suggested alternative rate options?

No, the payment type set during the initial search will remain the same. If your first choice had card payment, it will remain the same for alternative rates. The card details can be changed if needed.

What if the alternative rate doesn’t work for me?

No problem — you can simply return to the search results and select a different option that better suits your needs.

Choosing the alternative rate is optional, and no payment will be processed unless you confirm the new rate. You’re always in control of your booking.
